PMAI Reports 49 Percent Growth in Photo Printing

The Photo Marketing Association International (PMAI) reports that the volume of prints from digital-still cameras increased by 49 percent for the year ending November 2006. This is according to a study made by the PMAI for the 12-month period from December 2005 to November 2006.

Online ordering of prints grew at the rate of 122 percent in those 12 months. Printing volumes on retail minilabs and instant kiosks grew 60 percent and 41 percent, respectively. Growth in home printing remains healthy at 28 percent, but below the market average.

In terms of volume share, however, home printing still takes the lion’s share at 40.8 percent, followed by minilab printing at 24.1 percent. Online ordering volume was at 19.5 percent while instant kiosk printing 14.1 percent.
