PMA 2007: Leica Launches Wide-Angle C-Lux 2 Camera

Leica C-LUX 2 Digital Camera

Leica unveiled today at PMA 2007 its newest C-LUX 2 camera with a 28mm starting focal length that allows wide-angle photography.

In looks and features, the C-Lux 2 tracks the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX30 very closely (they’re twins from the same forge), but it has that unmistakably Leica finish and it’s $150 more expensive. To justify its $500 price, Leica bundled a 64MB SD card as well as a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements.

The C-Lux 2 features a 7.2-megapixel CCD, 3.6x optical zoom, 2.5” LCD, and 848 x 480, 30fps video capability, as does the Lumix FX30.

The Leica C-Lux 2 will be in stores in May, available in black or silver.
