PhotographyBLOG.com Reviews the Nikon D700 DSLR

Nikon D700 Digital SLR Camera

PhotographyBLOG.com reviewed the Nikon D700 full-frame DSLR and gave it 4.5 stars out of 5. Not a perfect score? But why?

Reviewer Gavin Stoker wants a built-in sensor-shift image stabilization system in there so users are not forced to invest in a VR lens. He also decries the D700’s lack of a tilt and swivel LCD screen like that found on the Olympus E-3, Panasonic L10 and Sony A350. Yeah, why not? You know, for making those creative angle shots.

But Gavin says he’s really struggling to find fault in the D700. It’s really a great camera. “In conclusion,” he writes, “the Nikon D700 looks and handles closer to the D300 than D3, in terms of controls and layouts, whilst of course featuring the D3’s full frame capture ability, but in a lighter and smaller design. As such it comes across as a kind of ‘greatest hits’ of Nikon DSLRs.”
