Photo Storage Options for the Mega Shooter

Come to think of it, with new DSLR cameras like the Nikon D3 packing it in at 12.1 megapixels, you can easily fill up your 4GB or 8GB CompactFlash cards with RAW images and not have enough for a complete photo shoot.

One obvious solution of course is to stock up with more CF cards. Get the 32GB memory card when they come out in November, if you can afford its $500 price tag.

Another gorgeous solution is the Epson P-5000 with its lovely LCD screen and its very friendly user interface. Its $700 price tag however can turn you off.

Wolverine also has an offering on the storage issue, its new ESP 250GB Multimedia Storage Player. It has a built-in 7-in-1 card reader that can accommodate virtually every memory card in the market today. Plus, it is a multimedia player. Meaning, you can view your photos, first and foremost, and also view all your video collections in MPEG-1, MPEG-4, WMV9 and Xvid formats.

The Wolverine 250Gigger is also a music player, supporting all popular audio formats in MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, AAC, and CDA. It also has a built-in FM radio tuner. Price: $650.

The best no-frills solution to the photo storage problem could be this offering from Digital Foci, the PSF-250 Photo Safe 80GB portable digital photo storage with memory card reader. It’s reasonably priced at $150 (40GB), $189 (80GB) and $229 (120GB). There’s no color LCD but you’ll get 80GB of storage. It reads all memory cards and a monochrome LCD can show you useful info during file transfers.
