Pentax and Cruise West Photography Cruises

Cruise West has partnered with Pentax to offer photography cruises on board six itineraries in 2008, giving guests the opportunity to participate in on-board presentations and special field events.

Pentax-sponsored professional photographer Kerrick James will co-host the cruise and hold photography classes on board. Cruise participants will also get the chance to receive hands-on instructions on the latest Pentax photography products.

Cruise West ships are much smaller than the usual cruise ships, providing flexible and customized itineraries to allow exploration of remote locales not frequented by the large cruise lines.

The photography cruises lined up for 2008 include the following:

Whales & Wildlife departs on January 19 and goes through Mexico’s Sea of Cortes where guests will have the chance to photography common and bottle-nosed dolphins and numerous species of whales.

Alaska’s Whales & Wilderness will have two cruises, on May 23 and July 4, which are round-trip journeys from Juneau and include Glacier Bay National Park, Sitka, a port call at a small Alaskan village, and Frederick Sound, where guests will be on watch for the gentle and majestic Humpback Whale.

Pacific Northwest Coastal Escape is a round trip from Seattle on April 27, 2008 and gives guests the opportunity to hone their photography skills while cruising the majestic waters of Puget Sound and British Columbia’s Strait of Georgia. Stops in the beautiful cities of Vancouver and Victoria, B.C. and in the picturesque San Juan Islands are also scheduled.

Between Two Seas will cruise on March 26 and December 2 to view the landmark sights of the Panama Canal and exotic Costa Rica.

While these photography cruises will feature Pentax cameras and lenses, feel free to bring along your Nikon, Canon, Sony or even your Hasselblad. Everybody is welcome aboard, according to Cruise West and Pentax.
