Pentax today announced their Optio W90, the 11th generation in its line of PENTAX Optio waterproof digital cameras built for rugged use.
The 12-megapixel Optio W90 is waterproof, dustproof, freeze-proof and shockproof. It is rated to perform under 20 feet of water, to survive a 4ft fall and to still be functioning in sub-freezing temperatures.
It also features an inventive Digital Microscope mode with LED lighting to photograph small subjects. Designed with the look of mountaineering equipment, the Optio W90 kit includes a woven web fabric strap complete with a carabineer to attach the camera to a backpack and other outdoor gear.
The Pentax Optio W90 will start shipping in April 2010 and will retail for about $330.
