Pentacon GmbH of Dresden, Germany has entered the consumer digital camera market with its Praktica Luxmedia 7403, a 7Mp compact with a non-remarkable 3x optical zoom but a significant 3.0-inch LCD screen.
Unlike most digital compacts, the Luxmedia 7403 has no protruding lens system. The lenses are kept inside and the picture is projected to the sensor unit by using a small mirror.
This permits the slim design of the 7403. The lens system is controlled by a very sensitive mechanism. Its focal length is equivalent to 37 – 113 mm, and it can shoot in five different ISO values (100, 200, 400, 800 and automatic).
The Luxmedia 7403 has 32MB of built-in memory, which can be extended by adding an SD card to its memory slot.
