PBS Features Wildlife Photographer Joel Sartore

Joel Sartore

PBS is featuring a documentary on National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore this week.

“At Close Range with National Geographic” is a one-hour look at the photographer extraordinaire who has been chased by bears, wolves, alligators and musk oxen on the job and came home with amazing photos of wild animals in their habitat.

The documentary also takes a poignant look into the family of Sartore, a devoted husband and father who sometimes wonders what on earth he’s doing eyeballing snakes in the Amazon while his wife and children are missing him at home.

But it’s all worth it, of course. With his photos, Sartore reminds us where everybody fits in the circle of life. (…fade out music from the “Lion King…”)
