Panasonic Unveils New MFT Lenses at PMA 2009

Also today at PMA 2009, Panasonic unveiled another wide angle lenses for the Micro Four Thirds format: the LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm/F4.0 ASPH.

The compact and lightweight lens provides a focal range of 14-28mm and a 114-degree angle of view. It combines 16 lens elements in 12 groups, including two aspherical lenses and four ED lenses and features F4.0 brightness over the entire zoom range. The LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm/F4.0 ASPH lens allows use of the contrast AF system on the new DMC-GH1 camera.

The other lens unveiled today was the LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S. which comes as a kit lens for the HD movie-capable GH1 camera. Panasonic said this lens system uses four aspherical lenses and two ED lenses to achieve dramatic downsizing despite its powerful 10x optical zoom, while minimizing distortion and chromatic aberration. It also features image stabilization and an inner focus direct-drive linear motor for focusing, which enables smooth, silent operation of its fast and accurate contrast AF system, for use in both photo and movie recording.
