Panasonic LUMIX G1 Camera Gets Photokina Star for Its Micro Four Thirds Design

Panasonic LUMIX G1 Micro Four Thirds Camera

Coming home fresh from Photokina 2008, Panasonic announces that their new digital interchangeable lens camera LUMIX DMC-G1 is the winner of the famous “Photokina Star,” a nod to the Micro Four Thirds design that the camera has adopted.

The “Photokina Star” is appointed by photo specialist magazines PHOTO PRESSE and digit!, published by Klie Verlagsgesellschaft (Publishing), and is awarded to products or services that are determined to be the absolute highlights of the show amongst the whole selection of exhibited photographic instruments.

The citation reads, “By the G1, Panasonic launches the first system camera based on the new Micro Four Thirds standard. The elimination of the mirror box enables an ultra-compact construction of the camera and lenses. The G1 features 12-megapixel resolution and will be available in colors black, red and blue.”
