Panasonic Develops Rugged Image Sensor for Industrial Use

Panasonic MOS Sensor

Panasonic has developed what they describe as a robust next generation image sensor for industrial use that is extremely resistant to weather, heat and UV deterioration.

The company said their new image sensor can be used under harsh sunlight for more than 20 years. It may be employed in industrial applications like automobiles and other outdoor usage.

Unlike traditional image sensors with polymer on-chip microlenses and dyed color filters, the new MOS image sensor has digital-microlenses and photonic color filters, both made of inorganic materials that are inherently fade-resistant and quite robust, according to Panasonic.
