Ooops! Canon Takes Back EOS 5D Mark II Firmware

Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLR Camera

Update: Canon has issued Firmware Version 2.0.4 to fix the just-released Version 2.0.3. The latest firmware is available HERE.

Firmware Version 2.0.3, issued just two days ago, is causing problems with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLR, so the company has stopped making the new firmware available on its website.

Canon admits that a malfunction occurs when the manual recording levels for C1, C2 and C3 settings are changed and the camera becomes unable to record audio if the power is turned off (or if Auto power off takes effect) after registering “Sound Recording: Manual” in the camera user settings.

Canon advises customers who have already updated to the new firmware to set the sound recording settings to Auto when using the camera with the mode dial set to C1/C2/C3.

Canon promises to fix this very soon.
