Olympus has made available firmware updates for its lenses to make them compatible with the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 Micro Four Thirds camera.
The Panasonic G1, which is scheduled to ship in November, is the first camera under the Micro Four Thirds system to accept Four Thirds lenses using a converter.
Users can implement the firmware update via an Olympus or Panasonic camera body. Partner companies in the Four Thirds camp have agreed to offer a joint update service to make the different brands compatible.
The Olympus lenses with updated firmware today (and their new firmware version numbers) are as follows:
• Zuiko Digital 25mm f2.8: Firmware v1.2
• Zuiko Digital 35mm f3.5 Macro: Firmware v1.2
• Zuiko Digital ED 14 – 42mm f3.5 – f5.6: Firmware v1.3
• Zuiko Digital ED 35 – 100mm f2.0: Firmware v1.2
