The Olympus Stylus 1050 SW is the latest version of the company’s shockproof, waterproof and freezeproof SW line of digital cameras. It boasts a new Tap Control feature: you tap it on its top, back or sides instead of using a screen menu system to call up the various camera functions.
This is made possible with the new camera’s 3D accelerometer that detects the direction of the force on the camera’s body. For example, to turn on the flash or Shadow Adjustment Technology, use your finger to tap the camera’s side twice.
The 10.1-megapixel Stylus 1050 SW is shockproof to 1.5m, waterproof to 3m and freezeproof to -10°C. It sports a 2.7-inch LCD screen and offers a 3x, 38-114mm zoom lens. Available in late September for $300.
