Olympus Unveils Mid-Level E-A1 Four Thirds DSLR Camera

Olympus E-A1 Four Thirds DSLR Camera

Olympus today said it is developing a new interchangeable-lens digital SLR (single lens reflex) within the Olympus E-System Four Thirds line-up. This new digital SLR camera will be positioned as a mid-level model that will meet the needs of those who are just starting out as photographers and professionals with years of experience behind them.

The new DSLR is tentatively named the Olympus E-A1, which takes its place between the flagship E-3 at the top and the E-520 next to it. It will inherit the E-3’s high-speed AF system using 11-points-full twin cross sensor, the built-in image stabilization mechanism and others features. It will also include a new and updated splash- and dust-proof function.

The developed camera will be exhibited as a reference product at Photokina 2008 which is now in full swing in Cologne, Germany. It will be available in Q1 2009.
