Olympus Unleashes New E-PL1s PEN Camera

Olympus E-PL1s PEN Digital Camera

There’s a new PEN camera from Olympus, the E-PL1s, which looks to be not much different from the previous E-PL1. Aesthetically, it just adds a silver band on the body which can now be red, white or black.

Inside however, is a higher maximum ISO sensitivity setting maxing out at ISO 6400 from the previous ISO 3200 only.

More interesting to note is the new kit lens that comes with the E-PL1s: it’s the new M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II silent-focus lens. The new kit lens provides high-speed and near-silent focusing for both stills and video. It also weighs much less at only 112 grams, 25% lighter than the older version.

The E-PL1s is available only in Japan, but the new silent-focus lens will be available worldwide for about $400.
