The new Olympus SP-570 UZ currently holds the bragging rights to “the world’s longest zoom†among fixed lens cameras. It offers 20x zoom which is equivalent to 26-520mm in 35mm terms. That’s super telephoto in any language.
With a zoom that long you’ll need some kind of technology to keep your images steady, and that’s where its built-in Dual Image Stabilization comes in. It’s Olympus’ latest innovation to eliminate blur due to camera shake.
The SP-570 UZ can shoot continuously at 13.5 frames per second, useful for actions scenes where you don’t want to miss a shot.
Olympus says the new zoom camera also features a full suite of digital imaging innovations to ensure the capture of best possible images. This includes High ISO Settings, Face Detection Technology, Shadow Adjustment Technology, and TruePic III.
The Olympus SP-570 UZ is scheduled to ship in March 2008.
