OReilly Releases Mastering HD Video with Your DSLR

Many of the newest DSLRs include HD video capability, and with this development, photographers are beginning to explore the video capabilities of their cameras and are eager to learn the art and craft of creating high quality video.

A new book from O’Reilly, Mastering HD Video with Your DSLR (Rocky Nook, $34.95 USD) by Helmut Kraus and Uwe Steinmueller, offers to teach you how to capture and edit video footage, and how to achieve the unique “motion picture look” and the effects that weren’t possible with standard digital video equipment.

Topics covered include mastering video concepts, specific video features of DSLRs, and equipment needed to shoot video; as well as the restrictions, problems, and pitfalls of shooting video with a DSLR. The authors use an easy-to-follow approach of introducing concepts, thoroughly explaining the process of shooting video, and finally, presenting step-by-step projects that take the reader from capture to editing.

The authors have published a number of books on photography. Helmut Kraus is director of the design agency exclam! and is visiting professor of design at University of Applied Sciences Dusseldorf, where he lectures in the theory and practice of digital photography while San Jose, California-based Uwe Steinmueller is the man behind outbackphoto.com, a popular website covering quality outdoor photography using digital cameras.
