Nokia has announced its update to the Nokia 770 internet device, curiously adding the new N800 model to their N-series of smartphones.
The Nokia N800 Internet Tablet of course is not a phone although you can use it for Internet calling. It’s basically for surfing the Web and emailing. And, yes, it’s a very competent device for playing your video and music like any other PMD. Photos, too, can be viewed on the N800’s pixel-packed 4.1-inch clear touch-screen LCD (800 x 480 resolution).
It sports a faster processor this time, a 320MHz powerhouse that drives its Linux Tablet OS 2007 operating system. It has a VGA camera, if you need to take a picture; and dual SD card slots because you’ll need more memory than its 256MB flash ROM can provide.
Nokia is currently showing the new device at CES 2007 in Las Vegas; the N800 is now available in some stores for about $400.
