Nikon USA Offers Memory Upgrade for the D3

Okay, sports photojournalists, you were covering last week’s Cotto-Margarito boxing headliner, and you were shooting in burst mode at ringside to capture all those punches that the underdog Margarito had to endure.

But when it came time for Margo to deliver the knockout counter-blow to send the undefeated Cotto kneeling on the canvas, your Nikon D3 ran out of memory (it’s good for only 16 shots continuous in Raw mode). Oh, bummer!

Well, Nikon heard you. They’re now offering a $500 service to increase that continuous shooting buffer memory, more than doubling that up from 16 to 36 shots. So now you can shoot for a longer time continuously to capture that decisive shot.

If you need that service, it’s available in the UK for something like 300 quids, half a grand in the US and just a little lower in China. Jeez, wasn’t the Nikon D3 supposed to do that in the first place?
