Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Fixed Lens

Nikon has announced the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens, a fast-aperture fixed focal length DX-format lens that gives the equivalent 52.5mm focal length and produces a picture angle similar to the field of vision as seen through the human eye.

Nikon’s intention is to give DX-format camera users (D40, D60, D90 and D300) the experience of shooting with a classic 50mm prime lens. The company says users will appreciate the extreme low-light performance and the expanded ability to dramatically separate the subject and background with the new 35mm DX lens’ wide f/1.8 aperture.

The new lens will be available in March 2009 for $200, MSRP.
