Nikon is now number one in Japan if we go by sales of DSLR cameras, according to a report by DigitalCamera.jp unearthed by 1001NoisyCameras.
2007 data from cash registers of camera stores in Japan indicated that Nikon sold 43.8% of total DSLRs with Canon trailing close by at 40%. Pentax was a far third at 5.8%.
In the point-and-shoot category, Canon was still tops at 19.8% with Panasonic second at 16.1% and Sony at third place with 14.1%.
On photo printers, Canon is also number one at 39.8%, Epson almost ties it with 39.5%, and Casio is number 3 at 11.9%.
