Nikon Sees More Money for the Year as Q2 Profits Surge 36.8 Percent

Nikon is reporting a 36.8 percent jump on profits in the 2nd Quarter of the current Japanese fiscal year (yes, they have their own different calendar).

As a result, Nikon is looking up at 11 percent growth for the year as consumers continue to buy its expanded line-up of digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras and simpler compact models.

For the full year (which I believe to be from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008), Nikon calculates its annual profit outlook to be 127 billion yen ($1.13 billion) from an operating profit of 114 billion yen, against a market estimate of 124.9 billion yen by 20 analysts.

Nikon of course has other products, like its advanced chip steppers – complex machines used to print circuitry on silicon wafers – that are also contributing to the company coffers.
