Nikon today launched its high performance Coolpix P7000, with premium specs and matching premium price.
What do you get for $500? The P7000 hopes to be a back-up second camera for professional photographers. Nikon says the P7000 delivers outstanding images, RAW files too, in a less intimidating form factor than a SLR.
So, it’s equipped with a wide-angle 7.1x zoom NIKKOR lens giving a 28mm to 200mm range (35mm format equivalent), with optical Vibration Reduction (VR), two ED glass elements and Nikon’s brand new EXPEED C2 image processing system. Nikon said the large 10.1-megapixel 1/1.7†CCD sensor facilitates wide dynamic range and exceptional low light performance while the 7.5cm (3.0â€) high resolution LCD (920K dot) monitor assists composition, movie making and playback in brilliant detail.
The P7000 will be on sale starting September 23, 2010.
