Nikon today announced the new Coolpix P80 zoom camera, an SLR-style shooter sporting an optically stabilized 18x Nikkor zoom lens. This super-zoom offers the 35mm equivalent focal range from 27mm wide angle through 486mm telephoto.
The new P80 packs a 10.1-megapixel CCD image sensor powered by Nikon’s own EXPEED digital image processing. It can shoot in 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1 aspect ratio resolution settings.
Shots can be framed and viewed on the camera’s 2.7-inch 230K-pixel LCD or alternatively on a 0.24-inch electronic viewfinder. It has 50MB of built-in memory, usable out of the box, and accepts SD memory cards for more storage.
The Nikon Coolpix P80 is expected to hit U.S. store shelves this month with a retail price of about $400.
