Nikon D7000 Sees the Light of Day

Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera

Nikon today announced the new D7000 digital SLR camera, taking its place above the D90 but just below the flagship D300S, in the hierarchy of Nikon DX-format DSLRs.

The Nikon D7000 utilizes a 16.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor powered by Nikon’s latest-generation EXPEED 2 image processing engine. It also boasts a weather-proof magnesium alloy body.

The D7000 features Nikon’s latest 39-point AF system with 3D tracking and 2,016 pixel RGB metering sensor, a 921K dot 3-inch LCD (darn, it does not swivel!) and full HD (1080p) movie recording with continuous autofocus.

The Nikon D7000 will start shipping middle of next month, with a price tag of $1,200 for the body only and $1,500 for the kit that includes the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens.
