Nikon D700 Gets Real!

Nikon D700 FX Full Frame Digital SLR Camera

As of this writing, Nikon Inc. still has to issue an official press release regarding the D700 FX full-frame digital SLR camera, but already the word is out: the Nikon D700 is a reality.

After a carefully orchestrated crescendo of leaks during the past week, the first official announcement was made by Thomas Maquaire of Nikon France, in a video via the link below.

The D700 is a full frame DSLR with a 12-megapixel sensor that was also used in the D3, but does the D3 one better by adding a dust removal system. Nikon’s top-of-the-line 51 point metering and 15 cross sensor AF can also be found on the D700.

The new DSLR is expected to hit store shelves by the end of this month, with a price tag of €2,800 or about US$4,400.
