Nikon D3, D300 to Ship with Capture NX, At Last!

Capture NX

Nikon UK announces that the new D3 and D300 DSLRs, which are scheduled to begin shipping at the end of this month, will include the Capture NX image editing software.

Nikon has in the past been criticized for including only a trial version of the highly-praised photo enhancing application with their DSLRs; if you wanted to keep it (because it’s such an easy tool to use) you have to pay $150 for it.

Capture NX has earned praise for its U Point controls that let the user point to where he wants enhancements to the photo and dragging a few sliders to edit his image.

The latest version of the software, Capture NX 1.3, will be bundled with the D3 and D300. If you want to see how NX works, there’s a demo here.

Initial shipments of the new cameras will come with a product key that will unlock a downloaded trial version of NX available from the web site. A CD ROM version will be bundled with D300 and D3 from December.

The Nikon D300 is the company’s newest semi-pro camera with class-leading 12.3 megapixel resolution, speedy 6 fps frame advance, self-cleaning sensor unit and high definition 3” VGA LCD display while the D3 is Nikon’s flagship DSLR featuring an exclusive 12.1 effective megapixel FX format (36.0×23.9mm) image sensor with 12-channel read out, a fast 9 fps frame rate, expandable ISO settings from 200-6400, a completely new 51-Point autofocus system, a 3-inch VGA LCD screen with Live View and a cutting-edge image processing system.
