Nikon digital SLRs and Canon compact cameras were among the bestsellers during the Black Friday weekend that stretched into Cyber Monday (Nov. 24-27). This 4-day period has been known to be the busiest shopping weekend of the year.
Over 140 million shoppers trooped to the stores on the Black Friday weekend while another 61 million customers shopped online on Monday, according to figures released by the National Retail Federation. It said consumers spent an average $360.15 each during the past weekend.
Among the best selling DSLRs were the Nikon D200, Nikon D80 and the Sony Alpha 100. The Canon PowerShot SD600 topped the best selling list for point-and-shoots, along with the A540, SD700 IS, SD800 and the Nikon Coolpix S9.
