New Ricoh CX4 Offers 10.7X Zoom, Enhanced Image Stabilization

Ricoh CX4 Digital Camera

The new Ricoh CX4 compact digital camera boasts 10.7 times optical zoom which delivers a 35mm zoom equivalent of 28mm in the wide view to 300mm in telephoto. It also touts an improved image sensor shift stabilization to allow blur-free photos even in low light.

Ricoh explains that the CX4’s image stabilization system has been enhanced to provide a 3.7-stop advantage when shooting hand held and a ‘night landscape multi-shot mode’ whereby four frames are taken in rapid succession and then combined into one sharp, well-exposed, low-noise image.

The 10-megapixel shooter also features new creative filters and a newly developed subject-tracking AF system. The new creative filters include Soft Focus, Cross Process and Toy Camera in addition to the existing Miniaturize, High-Contrast B&W and Dynamic Range Double Shot.

The new camera is slated to ship starting September 3, next month, in Japan. You don’t even have to worry about supply because Ricoh plans to manufacture 50,000 CX4 cameras each month. And you may want to wait for the CX5 because Ricoh seems to update this line every six months or so.
