New Pentax Firmware Shushes K20D Noise

Pentax K20D DSLR

The Pentax K20D has a new firmware – Version 1.01 – which minimizes the camera’s image noise when taking pictures with 2 seconds self-timer mode. Some pixel-peepers (a.k.a. reviewers) have observed a few hot pixels when the self-timer is set to short durations; this is not quite evident with normal users.

The 7.3MB download can be accessed via the Pentax site. It is intended for users of the K20D with Version 1.00 installed. To check the version number, turn your camera on while holding down the MENU button. The version number will appear in the center of the LCD screen.

The 14.6-megapixel K20D is the current flagship product of Pentax, based on its successful K10D predecessor.
