New KammaGamma Website Offers Near Engineering Level Reviews of DSLR Cameras

KammaGamma.com Logo

There’s a new website, KammaGamma.com, dedicated to everything DSLR. It talks about DSLR cameras, examines their inner workings and compares their performances, and most notably, it maintains DSLR image quality databases for such qualities as color and noise.

KammaGamma.com features a color transformation database that allows the photographer to better understand the color transformation of any DSLR camera. The color database is constructed of several plots, calculated by real time color conversion functions and gamut mapping.

The website also features a complete database for JPEG noise measurements taken in a controlled lab. The noise database is based on two plots that display to the photographer noise measurements as a function of luminance and of ISO setting. The noise measurements are displayed as Luma and Chroma data that is the same way camera makers measure and reduce image noise.

And there are several more databases in development, all about metrics on pixels. This is the place to geek it out if you want to count pixels and chart the qualities of photos produced by DSLRs.
