Moixa Energy is gearing up its USBCell rechargeable batteries for some fashion makeover. Since these are recharged and re-used hundreds of times, Moixa figured they might as well make it more fashionable to match the equally fashionable gadgets and gizmos of today’s users.
Of course, the makeover is just skin deep, something to do with colors; it’s still the same good old USBCell inside. Since its debut back in September 2006, the USBCell has received considerable media attention because it’s easy to recharge via the USB connections available in computers.
The USBCell AA battery was even commended as a finalist for best product design of 2006 by Design Week – but was narrowly beaten by a certain product called the iPod Shuffle.
USBCell AA products are now available in over 50 countries worldwide. A full range of USBCell formats from AA, AAA, 9V batteries and custom batteries for phones and portable gaming and camera devices is being planned by Moixa. Two-cell packs of USBCell AA batteries currently sell for about $20.
