Memjet Techonology, which last week demonstrated printing speeds of 60 pages per minute, is now talking about increasing that output to a theoretical 360 pages per minute in two to three years.
Hold it right there, Memjet. Let’s make that 60ppm a reality first, that’s quite a big leap already and we’d be happy enough if you could release the $200 printers you promised.
“Memjet also has set its sights on the commercial printer market, hoping to change newspaper and magazine printing. Future plans include a commercial printer capable of an unheard-of 64,000 pages per minute.â€
I said hold it, cool it, mate; first things first. We’ve got a multitude who would be happy to see your ‘pagewidth’ print head go into the mainstream market with its promise of super fast print speeds and lower printing costs.
Then you can go ahead with all your other plans. Even world domination, if that’s what you want. But let’s make that $200 60ppm pagewidth inkjet printer a reality first. Right, mate?
