    Here’s an errata to my previous comment. I’d previously seen several websites mention that demosaicing typically happens in camera, however I just came across a great paper discussing the deep dark secrets of raw capture on Adobe’s web site which says that demosaicing of raw images happens outside the camera, in the raw conversion software. The paper’s a great read, and it can be found here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/pdfs/understanding_digitalrawcapture.pdf
