Leica Launches New 18mm Lens, Flash Unit

Leica Super-Elmar-M 18 mm f/ 3.8 ASPH Lens

Leica will take part in the upcoming PMA 2009, March 3-5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In its pre-PMA announcement, Leica unveiled two new products: the Super-Elmar-M 18 mm f/ 3.8 ASPH compact wide angle lens and the SF 58 flash unit.

The new lens has an equivalent zoom of 24mm when used on the digital LEICA M8 and LEICA M8.2. A matching LEICA BRIGHT LINE FINDER M 18 mm is also available for the new lens. Used in conjunction with the LEICA SUPER-ELMAR-M 18 mm f/ 3.8 ASPH. lens, it highlights the precise framing of the field of view and is distinguished by its vibrant, high-contrast image.

The Leica SF 58 flash unit, meanwhile, has a maximum guide number of 58 (ISO 100/21°) and is suitable for use with all Leica rangefinder and SLR cameras. It can also be used with the new Leica S-system.
