Leica Launches M9-P for Professionals Who Can’t Afford It

The new Leica M9-P rangefinder digital camera adds a scratch-proof sapphire crystal LCD with anti-reflective coatings for improved visibility in difficult lighting conditions. And, to make it less obvious to muggers, the Leica red dot and M9 plate has been removed from camera front; instead, the Leica engraving is now on the metal top plate.

Leica said the M9-P combines all the benefits of the original: compact size, full-frame, 18 megapixel 24 x 36mm sensor (35mm format), sophisticated image processing and robust construction, with features designed for the professional user or photographers who prefer a pure, even more unobtrusive styling.

The new Leica M9-P retails for about $8,000 – twice the current price of the original M9.
