LaCie Little Big Disk Quadra for Mobile Storage

The Little Big Disk Quadra is the latest mobile storage products from LaCie. This little thing offers big capacity, up to 500GB, and blazing speed.

Its sturdy aluminum heat-sink design (by Neil Poulton) offers quiet operation and the quadruple interface allows universal connectivity for true cross-platform compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (including Time Machine) and Windows Vista.

Its back end ports include an eSATA 3Gbits port, two FireWire800 ports (with an included cable for FireWire 400 compatibility) and a USB 2.0 port.

LaCie said the LBD Quadra is bus-powered with FireWire 800 and is bootable with FireWire for Mac OSX or eSATA for Windows. It offers built-in RAID 0 capabilities to reach up to 110MB/s burst transfer rates when using eSATA or up to 80MB/s if using FireWire 800, while also being the quietest drive in its capacity.

At 1.4 pounds it is 60 percent lighter than most desktop hard drives. The LBD Quadra is available now at $475 for the 400GB 7200RPM version and $500 for the 500GB 5400 RPM model.
