Kuhrt: All the Big Names Will Be at Photokina 2010

Photokina World of Imaging 2010

It’s still 9 months away, but this early Photokina is already prepping up for the 31st Photokina World of Imaging convention in Cologne, Germany. To be held September 21 to 26, 2010, the gathering will be attended by all the leading names in photography and imaging – “from A to Z, from Adobe to Zeiss,” says Oliver P. Kuhrt, Executive Vice President of Koelnmesse GmbH. It’s the biggest trade show for the industry.

Without exception, all the large companies have signified their intention to participate in Photokina 2010, according to Kuhrt. Over 1,300 exhibitors from 50 countries will present their products and services in Cologne. More than 160,000 visitors are expected to come to Cologne from all over the world to find out about the latest products and trends in imaging.

There are some conceptual changes in Photokina 2010. “Meet the Professionals” at Photokina will be expanded to include those product ranges that are also specifically targeted toward professional photographers and imaging specialists. CGI, or computer generated imaging, for example, will be expanded into a new sector, offering both service providers and producers of hardware and software the opportunity to present their expertise to an international trade audience.

Additionally, “Meet the Communities at Photokina” will offer a central meeting point for nonprofessional photography fans. It has been conceived as a marketplace where the organizers of photography festivals, as well as publishers and associations catering to nonprofessional end consumers and amateur photographers can present themselves.
