Kodak EasyShare C513 CMOS Digital Camera

The Kodak EasyShare C513 digital camera is a 5-megapixel entry level shooter that the company says will produce high-quality images no matter how experienced the photographer may be, because of its CMOS image sensor.

Kodak is breaking new grounds here. This is the first to use a CMOS image sensor, their own KAC-05011; until now, Easyshare cameras have used only CCD image sensors. CMOS sensors are supposed to take better quality pictures, while CCDs are cheaper and easier to make.

This is also the first sub-$100 camera with this feature set.

Aside from 5-megapixels in a CMOS sensor, the Kodak C513 also sports a 2.4-inch LCD screen and offers digital image stabilization (which I suspect is not true hardware-based image stabilization, but a clever software algorithm).

All the same, the 5MP CMOS is worth a try for one Benjamin.
