JVC GZ-HD40 Camcorder Can Record 50 Hours of AVCHD Video

JVC GZ-HD40 Camcorder

That’s 50 hours of full, 1920×1080 high definition video. The new camcorder from JVC, the GZ-HD40, is packed with a 120GB hard drive to record that much 1080p data.

The latest camcorder is one of two models that JVC unveiled today in Japan. The other is the 80GB GZ-HD30. Both the GZ-HD40 and the GZ-HD30 add to the Everio line of JVC camcorders.

Both are said to be the world’s first AVCHD / MPEG-2 dual-format camcorders, allowing access to the superior long time compression afforded by AVCHD, as well as MPEG-2’s superior editing and post-production environment. Both offer 1920 x 1080 Full HD recording in both formats.

A third new model introduced today, the GZ-HD10, offers 1440 x 1080 recording in the AVCHD format to a 40GB hard drive.
