The Lumiere 4K x 2K digital camera system from ViewPLUS Japan takes standard Nikon F mount lenses and can output 12-bit raw uncompressed 4096 x 2048 images at 60 frames per second to the host PC, essentially a high-res, high-speed movie using SLR quality lenses.
The Lumiere 4K x 2K digital camera system was introduced today at the International Technical Exhibition on Imaging Technology and Equipment in Yokohama, Japan.
The new camera uses a customized 8-megapixel CMOS sensor and a PCI Express (PCIe) x4 interface to output 12-bit raw uncompressed 4096 x 2048 images at 60 frames per second (FPS) to the host PC. The camera is compatible with standard Nikon F-mount lenses. Additional features include external frame synchronization to standard HD formats, such as 480i, 480p, 1080i, and 1080p; CVBS and S-Video bi-level and tri-level input signal synchronization; and an opto-isolated general purpose I/O (GPIO) connector for synchronizing to external devices such as a light source.
Pricing for the Lumiere 4K x 2K digital camera system starts at ¥8.4-million or about $96,000 US. It is available now.
