Is A-Data 128GB 2.5″ SSD for Real?

A-Data 128GB 2.5" SSD

Photo above shows a purported 128GB 2.5-inch solid state disk by A-Data of Taiwan. It was actually shown to some people at CES in Vegas three weeks ago but no photos were allowed (hush…top secret).

Is this a working prototype, or just a mock-up? We’ll know for sure when it finally comes out in Q1 or Q2, when A-Data is supposed to be mass producing the massive SSD. The wide timeframe could hint on some tentativeness, but we’re hoping they’d be able to pull this off and equip our notebooks with hard drives that do not have spinning disks inside.

SSDs are preferred over HDDs because of their inherent stability. They also generate no noise because there are no moving parts, plus they consume a lot less power.
