Idruna Remote Editing System

Idruna has launched its Remote Editing System (IRES) which allows an editor to see what a photographer is shooting, in real time, even if the photographer is on the other side of the world.

Instead of using proprietary WiFi transmitters from Canon and Nikon, the Idruna software makes use of UMPCs, mobile phones or laptops to transmit the images in real time. IRES works over the Internet via WiFi, LAN, even over mobile phone networks or satellite modems.

IRES initially transmits only the thumbnail images; when the editor clicks on a thumbnail, a preview image is displayed. The full size images can then be downloaded straight from the browser.

The IRES is ideally suited for event photography and photojournalism. The company says it can also be utilized with combat cameras used by special forces and the police.
