Hammacher Schlemmer Slide and Negative To Digital Picture Converter

The “Slide and Negative To Digital Picture Converter” is a new product from Hammacher Schlemmer. As it name explains, the device converts old 35mm slides and film negatives into digital images, allowing users to easily preserve their images without having to rely on a conversion service.

The digital converter is equipped with a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor that provides 10 bits per color channel for data conversion, and uses fixed focus and automatic exposure control and color balance which should result in clear digital images without loss of resolution.

The user just places the slides or negatives into a tray that aligns each properly, and at the touch of a button the image is scanned instantly. It can scan images up to 1829 dpi and uses three white LEDs as a back light source. It has a USB cable that plugs into a computer for photo transfers and power.

The device is available starting next week for $100.
