Green Volcano Software Introduces Photon 1.0

Photon Image Management Software

Photon 1.0, according to Green Volcano Software, is a high-performance, digital image viewing and sorting application for Mac OS X.

“By taking advantage of all the latest hardware, including the new Intel multi-processor systems and latest-generation graphics processors, Photon’s highly optimized imaging engine can quickly scan and sort through large sets of high resolution photos,” the company said.

The $49 Photon has a stack-based user-interface that has been crafted to mimic how one would normally sort slides on a light table, offering users an elegant and efficient way to view and sort images. Photon can load images directly from a memory card, or from a hard disk.

What does it do after all the image sorting and viewing? Use it with Lightroom or Aperture, GVS says. Photon’s main asset is its speed. It is fast. Use it to do a high-speed first cut of all your images before importing into your database.

Green Volcano Software LLC, based in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, was founded by Mike Bernardo in 2007.
