Getty Images has launched My Britain, a photographic initiative to encourage teenagers to get involved with photography by showing pictures of their hometown and what it means to grow up in their part of the British Isles.

This is open to British youths 13 to 18 years old. They can upload their photos at My Britain and get a chance to be tutored by Getty Images’ award winning photographers.

A panel of world famous news, sports and celebrity photographers will look at the uploaded images and select the best photos from each region of the UK.

The overall national winner is then selected and he or she could spend a day on assignment with the likes of noted photographer Tom Stoddart as he shoots his latest hard hitting photo documentary, or with a celebrity snapper to learn the ropes on a famous fashion photo shoot. For those who are more sports minded, the winner could find themselves pitch side with Alex Livesey, Nikon Sports Photographer of the Year and winner of the Barclays Premiership Football Picture of the Year, who regularly shoots the Champions League Finals, Rugby World Cup matches and the Olympic Games.
