The Overseas Press Club of America tonight presented the prestigious Robert Capa Gold Medal award to photojournalist John B. Moore, adding to his burgeoning citations as multi-awarded photographer.

The Capa award is given by the OPC in recognition of the “best published photographic reporting from abroad, requiring exceptional courage and enterprise.” It honors the legacy of the great war photographer Robert Capa of Magnum Photos.

Moore, who is based in Islamabad, Pakistan and shoots for Getty Images as senior staff photographer, was the only American journalist present at the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in late December. His coverage of the dramatic event earned him an award as 2008 Photojournalist of the Year from the National Press Photographers Association.

In 2005, Moore was part of a team of Associated Press photographers who won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for their coverage of the war in Iraq.
