The Freeloader Solar Panel Battery Charger is a pocket-sized charger that can power a mobile phone, iPod, camera, PDA or other mobile devices. It draws its power from the sun via a solar panel and stores it inside its own battery. When you need to charge your device, you just plug it in – inside your room, not outside baking in the sun.
Aside from the sun, the Freeloader can also draw power from a USB port in your PC. It takes 5 hours to fully charge it using the solar panels; 3 hours from a USB port.
The device can run an iPod for 18 hours, a mobile phone for up to 44 hours of standby time, or a Sony PSP for 2.5 hours, according to Solar Technology International Ltd., the UK-based company which makes the Freeloader Solar Battery Charger.
