Forget Megapixels, Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1 Has Fastest Burst Rate

Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1 Digital Camera

The Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1 is not a DSLR and it’s priced at $1000; but look, it shoots 1920×1080 full high-definition movies at 60fps. And that is its claim to fame: it is essentially a high-speed shooter boasting the fastest burst rate to date.

Yes, it takes still images at a staggering speed with its high speed CMOS sensor and matching high speed LSI processor. Casio said using the camera’s ultra-high speed burst shooting for still images or its high speed movie recording mode, you can capture a split second’s movement with greater detail than before, allowing you to catch each decisive moment, and even motion that the human eye cannot ordinarily perceive.

Dropping image size to 336×96 pixels, the Exilim Pro EX-F1 can shoot 1,200 frames per second! Reminds you of high-speed cameras in laboratories recording a bullet shattering a fruit or a balloon as it bursts. (So is this a still camera or a camcorder?)

The EX-F1 is a 6-megapixel shooter with 12x optical zoom. It is scheduled to ship in March 2008.
